HER PRACTICE
Marianne has mainly provided individual and couples follow-up within the public health network and various community organizations. Her path has led her to support people of all ages and varied realities, particularly in mental health and addiction, and with the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent people and people experiencing homelessness.
For five years, she worked in Quebec’s Far North with people (minors and adults) who were victims of domestic, family and sexual violence. This experience deeply shaped her practice, developing a trauma-sensitive approach that is attentive to cultural realities and respectful of Indigenous realities.
Her practice draws on four approaches: humanistic, cognitive-behavioural, systemic-integrative and trauma-sensitive.
The existential-humanistic approach fosters better self-knowledge and important realizations, so that the person can make decisions and adopt behaviours that allow them to develop their full potential and self-actualize.
The cognitive-behavioural approach is based on mindfulness and invites the person to become more aware of what they are experiencing in both body and thoughts, in order to work through impasses and integrate lasting changes in thought patterns.
The systemic-integrative approach allows her to support people by considering their social relationships and their environment as a whole.
Finally, the trauma-sensitive approach takes into account the person’s traumatic experiences and their impact on the different areas of their life. This approach does not aim to treat trauma, but rather to restore power and reduce the risk of re-victimization.
Marianne favours a holistic vision of sexual health, considering that well-being emerges from the balance between the body, emotions, relationships and the environment in which a person lives. She places great importance on creating a sense of safety, self-determination and trust in the therapeutic relationship.
Outside her practice, Marianne is passionate about the outdoors: she goes long-distance hiking, scuba diving and on nature expeditions whatever the season. She is currently training as a yoga teacher, a path that deepens her understanding of the close link between breath, movement, presence and well-being.
